Lake Powell was our destination, but there was plenty to see on the way there. Our caravan stopped in Laughlin, Nevada for the night, where we sought solace from the 115-degree heat in the air-conditioned casinos. The next day, we visited the Grand Canyon, stopping on the way in Seligman, Arizona to get a snack in a one-of-a-kind ice cream shop.


Just where the heck are we, anyway?


Our cars were full of kids and bags.


This place was crazy: you ask for a small coffee, they give you a cup the size of a quarter. You request a napkin, they ask you "New or used?" Priceless fun for the kids.

wacky Seligman Ice Cream Man.
